Dear Derrick,

Fall is here! Today you raked up all of the leaves from our big maple tree out front! Wow! There were so many. You had to use a wheel barrow to put the leaves into the bag.

You go back to school tomorrow. You have been having some trouble. It's all about the choices we make for ourselves. I know you are learning how to make good choices and how to control your emotions, especially when you get angry.

You have been doing so well with the reading program. You finished your first book over 200 pages. The first book was over 400 pages! Fantastic! I am so proud of you. Now you are reading the second book in this series. I knew you could always do it.

Well, it's getting darker now with Daylight Savings Time. Pretty soon we will be facing an icy northern wind and snow. Thanksgiving is around the corner and then on to Christmas. I feel so good knowing you will be here with me.

Love you,

Mom
