Dear Derrick,

Summer is halfway over. We enroll for school in about two weeks. This will be the last year of middle school. Eighth grade - now you are the big guy on the school grounds. I just want you to know the next four months are going to get rough between your dad and I. We are trying to come to an agreement, but can seem to get one resolved.

I never want you to be hurt by our words or actions toward each other, but sometimes parents fight. I know one day you will understand.
